Oppo A58 Review: Large Battery Smartphone for Daily Use

Oppo A58 Review: Long Lasting Battery For Daily Tasks:

Oppo A58

The Oppo A58 is an affordable smartphone aimed at users looking for reliable battery life and good build quality without breaking the bank. Priced at Rs. 12,490, here's a detailed review of the Oppo A58 after using it as my primary driver for over a week.

Design and Build

Oppo has offered a nice premium design language at this price point. The rear has a textured geometric pattern that looks subtle yet distinctive. It's not a fingerprint magnet either. Build quality feels solid despite being plastic, with no flex or creaks noticed.

The 6.56-inch LCD screen has thick bezels but was sharp enough. Maximum brightness was decent too. The side-mounted fingerprint reader integrated with the power key was fast and accurate. The dual speaker grilles delivered stereo sound output loud enough.

Performance and Software

Powered by the Unisoc T618 chipset paired with 4GB RAM, the A58 handled regular daily tasks smoothly without noticeable lags. Browsing multiple apps and light gaming worked fine. However, heavy 3D titles pushed it. ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12 offered a feature-packed experience.

Cameras and Battery Life

The triple rear camera setup included a 13MP main, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. Daylight shots had good details though colors were oversaturated at times. Macros came out sharp. Low-light images were average with visible noise. Selfies were just about acceptable for social media.

Battery life was probably the A58's strongest area. With moderate usage of around 4 hours of screen on time per day involving messaging, calls, photography and some media streaming, it easily lasted 1.5 days on a single charge. The 5,000mAh battery delivered dependable backup.

Value for Money

At Rs. 12,490, the Oppo A58 provides good all-round performance focused on long battery life and aesthetics without breaking the bank. Build feels solid despite plastic. Cameras are decent for social posting too.

Though not a powerhouse, the Unisoc chipset handles daily tasks without concerns. ColorOS offers many usable features as well. Battery life excels, lasting over a day and half consistently through different usage patterns. For the price, it presents good overall value.
